School Shoes Distribution
The aim of Education Assistance Program is to provide underprivileged students with good school consumables to promote literacy and to eventually enhance enrollment and retention in schools. Most of our Fairtrade certified cotton fields are located in two Tehsils (Haroonabad and Fortabbas) of District Bahawalnagar. Majority of children near SAS cotton fields attend primary schools ran by provincial government. Due to inflation, students studying in nearby schools were not able to afford proper school consumables such as school bags, stationary, notepads, school shoes and uniforms.
As school bags stationary notepads and other consumables were recently distributed by SAS as part of education assistance program. Team of SAS noticed that the shoes students wore to the school were not suited for such harsh weather of Tehsils (Haroonabad and Fortabbas) of District Bahawalnagar. SAS decided to provide good quality school shoes made of Genuine Leather and TPR sole to the students of Government Primary Schools.
Six schools were invited to Bajwa Cotton Ginning and Oil Mill (Additional entity of South Asian Sourcing Pvt Ltd.) for distribution of school shoes. Team of SAS visited five schools individually and distributed the school shoes in the schools premises.
